A Good Sized Child

A chuckle from the November 22, 1906 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 8:

A Good Sized Child.

A lady living west of town rushed into the depot the other day and informed the station agent Kennedy that her husband had gone to Kansas City to get a banner for the Sunday school, but had forgotten the inscription and how large the banner was to be.  She then wrote a telegram containing the desired information and handed it to the operator.  It read:  “My Dear Frank,” Savoy Hotel, Kansas City: “Unto us a child is born, eight feet long and two feet wide.”  The husband is still in Kansas City and it is rumored that he isn’t coming back. — Hopkins Journal.
