Notes or transcript:  “Gus Bagby brought a stalk of corn to town Wednesday afternoon that measured 14 1/2 feet in height and had one very large, well-filled ear and another small one. Mr. Bagby says he has four acres of corn that will measure all the way from 10 to 14 feet high. This is very remarkable as this has been the dryest season Missouri has had in twenty years.”
