Notes or transcript:  “The Burr Oak school house caught fire last Wednesday and but for the prompt action of two of A. C. Barber’s sons, would have burned. School had been dismissed on account of the stove smoking, and the two Barber boys were trying to get the soot out of the flue. While they were working the roof caught fire and John Barber climbed upon the house and whipped out the flames with his coat.”
