Notes or transcript:  Brief article reporting that the Republicans of Monroe township met to select delegates to the county convention at Maryville. Samuel Bender was made chairman of the township. John Gwin, Henry Barrett, L. Hitchcock, Theo. Gwin, George Eckart, and A. F. Hitchcock were named as delegates. At the county convention, A. F. Hitchcock was elected a delegate to the Judicial convention to be held at Joplin, and Henry Barrett and H. W. Montgomery were elected to attend the Congressional convention at St. Joseph.
