Basket Ball, 1910

Sporting news from the Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), December 22, 1910:

Basket Ball.

The initial number of this season’s basket ball was played Friday evening in the Kellogg building by the Teddy Bears and the Fairfax team.  The Fairfax bunch is a fine set of clean players, every one a gentleman.

This with them, as it were with the Teddy Bears, was their first game of the season, and although a little awkward, they showed that they had played basket ball before and got into the game like old timers.

The line up was as follows:

Skidmore – Moorhead (lg), Littler (rg), Ward (c), Sewell (lf), Barrett (rf)

Fairfax – Pierce (lg), Robinson (rg), Scarlett (c), Wanger (lf), Seymore (rf)

E. M. Hackett, Fairfax, Referee.  R. A. Walker, Skidmore, Umpire.

Fairfax is arranging for a return game in the near future to be held in their town.
