Class Reunion

As some of our schools prepare for modern-day reunions this fall, we bring you news of another reunion that took place in 1917.  If you are planning a reunion this month, you might consider having “choice Thanksgiving eats” on the menu.  As reported in the Dec. 6, 1917 Skidmore News:

Old Schoolmates in Reunion
J. O. Miller and family and J. C. Spahr and wife spent Thanksgiving day at New Point where they attended a reunion of the old schoolmates of Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Spahr.

The event was held in the I.O.O.F. hall and was a happy successful occasion, eighty persons being present.

Tables were arranged and loaded with choice Thanksgiving eats, to which all did justice.  Then toastmaster, Dr. L. E. Ruhl of Kansas City, called the company to order and a delightful program of patriotic songs, prayer, instrumental music, toasts and speeches was rendered.  Almost all responded to the call.

An organization was perfected, and Mrs. J. C. Spahr was made president.  Plans are already being laid for a bigger reunion next year.
