David McKee Runs Away, 1911

The 1910 U.S. Census shows a 9 year old David C. McKee living with his grandfather, David C. McKee, and his aunt and uncle, Edward and Florence Dougan. We hope young David found his way home.  From the June 8, 1911 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 4:

Ten-Year-Old Boy Runs Away.

About a week ago the 10-year-old son of David McKee of Guilford left home in the night and his whereabouts has been unknown to his family ever since.  The boy is living with his grandfather, who makes his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ed Dougan.

On the night of his leaving home the boy retired to bed as usual and the grandfather, who occupies the same bedroom noticed on retiring that the boy was in bed, but some time during the night the lad got up, changed his clothes and went to the pump station and enquired when the next train left for St. Joseph.  He boarded that train and the last seen of him was when he got off at the Union Station at St. Joseph.

His relatives have become alarmed and are making efforts to locate him.
