Death of Earl M. Coston, 1918

We are reminded as we approach Veterans Day that not all of northwest Missouri’s soldier and sailor boys returned home from World War I.  From the Skidmore News, August 1, 1918, page 1:

Former Holt County Boy Killed.

Relatives of Earl M. Coston in this vicinity, received word that he had met death at the front in France, June 24.  Young Coston enlisted in the regular army at Billings, Montana April 0, 1917 and landed in France in June of the same year.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coston who some years ago lived southwest of Skidmore, but who have made their home at Billings of late.

Earl is buried in the Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
