Fighting Words, Baseball Style

From page one of the July 12, 1901 Skidmore Standard:

The Skidmore Standard “points out” the faults and “shut outs” of our ball team last week and marked them for us.  Now we havn’t seen a game this year, Bro. Skidmore but if you think your town can play ball with Quitman, come up.  We’ll bet you a column rule to one half dozen nonpareil quads that we can beat you playing anything in the base ball line from “two old cat,” up. — Quitman Record

Now, boys, you will have to either put up or we will have to shut up.
