Notes or transcript:  “W. D. Gilbert, an inspector of the Rural Mail Routes, found quite a number of the mail boxes destroyed on the routes out of Hopkins, caused by boys – and sometimes men – throwing stones and shooting at them. We have not heard of any complaints of this kind on the routes from this place, but judging from the way some parties behaved themselves at the Fisk Jubilee concert the other evening, leaves the impression on one’s mind that they would not stop at anything.”
