Happy Birthday, William Berry

From the July 29, 1909 edition of the Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 4:

Seventy-Five Years Old.

Uncle “Billie” Berry was 75 years old last Wednesday, July 28, 1909.

William Berry was born in Rush county, Indiana, and came to Missouri 29 years ago, settling in Skidmore, where he has lived ever since.  He is a carpenter and works at his trade almost every day of the week and is able yet to do about as good a day’s work as most young men one-half his age.

Uncle “Billie” was married to Sarah McDonald, Aunt Sallie as she is familiarly called, three years ago last January.  They live in their beautiful little cottage on Elm street.

Since his residence in Skidmore he has been elected Justice of the Peace and member of the Board for Monroe township.  He served his party through two campaigns as chairman of the Republican township committee.  Has been a member of the M. E. church for 56 years.

Uncle “Billie” and Aunt Sallie are among our best citizens and we hope they will enjoy many birthdays among us.
