Notes or transcript:  “John Roberts has received a diploma from Prof. Harrenden’s Hypnotic School, of Jackson, Mich., stating that the aforesaid John Roberts is a full-pledged hypnotist from away back and is authorized to heal the sick, give sight to the blind and understanding to the deaf, discover secrets and hidden articles for so much per discovery, cure leprosy and toothache, turn water into burning buildings and perform all the miracles that he is paid for. The sheepskin is a very handsome document, and if John can perform all he can do he will make all the money he earns. – Quitman Record.”
