Notes or transcript:  “Prof. Carl Herrman, violinist and mandolinist, gave an entertainment in town Tuesday evening. The unanimous opinion of those present was, that he is an artist. He literally plays all over the violin and plays the instrument all over himself. His imitations on the violin of a country orchestra, church organ and colored camp meeting in the south were unique and exceptionally good.”
