Miss Bess Worl Wins Piano

From the November 7, 1912 Skidmore New Era, page 1:

Miss Bess Worl Wins Piano

Miss Bess Worl was the successful contestant in the Miller Mercantile Piano contest, which closed at 12 o’clock Saturday night.  The three principal contestants were Miss Worl, the Skidmore High School, and the Burr Oak Church.  The Burr Oak church withdrew from the contest Saturday afternoon and left the race between Miss Bess Worl and the High School, which was a lively contest until the balloting closed at the hour stated.

At the close the votes stood:  Miss Worl, 48,780.  Skidmore High School, 44, 260.

The Burr Oak church was right along up with the two others at the time they withdrew.

Card of Thanks.

I want to thank all my friends who so generously helped me in the piano contest, assuring you that I heartily appreciate your kindness.  Very sincerely — Bess Worl.
