Miss Nellie Collins Has Appendicitis

From the September 9, 1902 Skidmore Standard, page 1:

Bad Case of Appendicitis.

Miss Nellie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Collins, northwest of this city, was stricken with appendicitis the fore part of last week, and for a time it seemed she would surely die. Dr. Jacob Geiger, of St. Joseph, was called up Friday evening and he thought it best to take her to one of the St. Joseph hospitals. She was taken down Saturday and rallied sufficiently to undergo an operation Monday afternoon. Late reports from the hospital tell of continuous improvement in the patient’s condition and the chances now seem favorable for recovery.

Miss Nellie graduated from the Skidmore High School last April, and has many admiring friends in and near this city.
