Mrs. E. E. Tilton Recovers

Medical news wasn’t always good news in 1900, but the May 18, 1900 Skidmore Standard brought glad tidings:

E. E. Tilton brought his wife home from Maryville, yesterday morning.  She was in the hospital there nearly three months during which time she was subjected to a surgical operation, and she is enjoying better health now than at any time within the past five years.  Mr. Tilton speaks the greatest praise for the Maryville hospital and its management and does not hesitate to say that he attributes his wife’s cure to the scientific treatment which she received there.  Mrs. Tilton is still very weak.  The trip home tired her greatly but no evil effects are anticipated.

We believe Mrs. Tilton, the former Elizabeth Brown, did indeed live well into her seventies.
