Night Watchman

Crime news from the October 25, 1904 Skidmore Standard, page 1:

Night Watchman.

There was a paper passed around here a few days hence for the purpose of making up enough money for to hire a night watchman and our citizens succeeded in raising about $10 per week for that purpose. The watchman is on duty and will be during the winter. Those parties who prowl around after night had better fight shy of the place. We understand that there has been quite a good deal of chicken stealing going on throughout the town already. Only last Friday night some one was so small as to go to the Haynes Building and help themselves to 3 or 4 chickens which had been donated to the church people.
