Notes or transcript:  “The old Nodaway Valley hotel is being torn down this week. It was one of the first buildings erected in our city, and for quite a number of years has been an eye-sore to our town. When the work of removing the old building is completed, a neat and modern dwelling will be placed on the lots. T. E. Haynes is the prime factor in this improvement deal.”
