Obituary – Hettie Grace Camp Powell

In Memoriam — Mrs. Hettie Powell.

Hetty Grace Camp was born in Utica, New York, January 30, 1835 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Masters, November 1st, 1911, aged 76 years, 9 months and 1 day.

In early life she came with her parents to Knox County, Illinois where her father was one of the pioneer settlers of the new country and was actively engaged in the development of its resources.

She was married to Charles Powell in Oneida, Illinois October 31st, 1865.

Seven children were born to them, four of whom are still living, Mrs. John Masters of Skidmore, Mo., Frank E. Powell of Morrill, Neb., John E. Powell of Pearland, Texas, and Helen of Chicago.

In December 1873 the family came to Nodaway County and settled on what is known as the Coston farm.

Her life has ever been in account with her ideal of Christian Character.

In anticipation of the result of her last illness she expressed a desire to go and be at rest.

Brief funeral services were held at the home conducted by the Rev. W. H. Welton of Skidmore and her body taken to Oneida, Illinois and laid to rest by the side of her husband and three children who have preceded her.
