Paper Hats

Today, we remember the fashionable ingenuity of Skidmore’s young ladies, as reported in the August 16, 1901 Skidmore Standard, page 1:

Paper Hats.

We have had quite a run on card board this week, selling almost our entire stock to the smaller girls of our city. Our curiosity was aroused to know what they could be doing with so much paper of this kind and we proceeded to investigate the matter and found they were using it – together with colored crape paper – to make hats.

The two papers make a very novel and attractive hat, but we predict that the hat will have a very short life.
