Notes or transcript:  “The people of Clay township, in the King Grove neighborhood are united in their efforts toward improving their roads, and one day last week D. Ward King says there were nineteen of his fellow citizens out on their roads and each had a drag of his own. The business men of Maitland are extending a helping hand. Jim Peret lately came in over there dragged roads, and says they are by far the best he has ever seen in Holt county. He had been to Skidmore putting up a number of lightning rod jobs. – Oregon Sentinel.”
