Pretty Girls

In what was no doubt a wise public relations move, the January 12, 1900 Skidmore Standard printed the following quote and follow-up guaranteed to please at least half their readers:

The Skidmore Standard man says there are more pretty girls to the square acre, in Missouri, than any other State in the Union. – St. Joseph Daily News.

It was the ‘punkin’ editor who made that statement and the entire force of this print shop – ink-slinger, compositor, job-printer, foreman, scissors manipulator, head pressman and devil – are willing to bank on it; because what he doesn’t know about pumpkins, he does about pretty girls.
