Quitman Goes to Court

From the December 22, 1899 Skidmore Standard (Skidmore, Missouri):

Nearly all of Quitman – that is all the people except Editor Stevens – was in town Monday. They were the principals and witnesses in a case that was brought down here on a change of venue and tried before ‘Squire Al. Barber. John Manorgan, a carpenter and plasterer, was suing John and Ed Costello for money due him for work and the Costellow hold a note against Manorgan which they purchased about the time the suit was begun. A greater portion of the day was given over to hearing the testimony and the pleas of attorneys Fargo of Quitman and L. C. Cook of Maryville and then the jury failed to agree. The case will be tried before the same court tomorrow.
