Rural Route No. 3

Postmaster Howden continues his tireless work for the postal customers around Skidmore in 1901.  From the July 12 edition of the Skidmore Standard, page 1:

Rural Route No. 3.

Postmaster Howden received notice Wednesday night that the new rural mail route west of the river had been favorably considered and that he would be informed later as to when the carrier would be put on the route.

That gives Skidmore three rural mail routes now — the only town in the county outside of Maryville, having that many.
