Notes or transcript:  “Skidmore has a postmaster who takes his canceling stamp to the depot when the train comes in. When a man has a letter that he intends to leave with the mail agent in the car this enterprising postmaster asks to be permitted to cancel the aforesaid letter. The postmaster makes more money thereby and even if people do laugh at him he continues to tote the stamp to the depot in his same original way. – St. Joseph News.”
