Strickler Mule Deal

It’s a bit like announcing a big sale of Jeeps or Humvees – lower-tech, to be sure, but an important military deal, nonetheless. From the November 17, 1899 Skidmore Standard, page 1:

Ferman Strickler sold twenty-six head of mules to a representative of the Kansas City mule market on Thursday of this week. These mules will soon fall into the hands of the British and be shipped to South Africa for service in the war against the Boers. – Craig Leader.
