Ten Pin Alley in Skidmore, 1914

Did you know that Skidmore had a bowling alley in 1914?  We did not.  Thank goodness it was a suitable place for ladies!

From the February 19, 1914 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 4:

Gentlemen! Do not hesitate to bring your wives and sisters and friends to bowl. We expect to run a clean respectable business and balls of suitable weight are provided for ladies. Harry Hardin.

With the Bowlers

Business started with a rush at the new Ten Pin Alley.  The shining pins and the highly polished surface of the alley presented a very pleasing spectacle and the boys played some classy games.  Several good scores were made and with a little practice Skidmore may have at least two good bowling teams.
