Three Dollars a Day

Some positive financial news for jurors in the April 24, 1913 Skidmore New Era:

Three Dollars a Day for Jurors

Missouri farmers can now serve as grand or petit jurors without the financial sacrifice heretofore entailed by this duty.  The recent legislature provided that such jurors should hereafter receive three dollars a day.  This will be appreciated especially by men who are forced to leave their farms and spend one, two or more weeks in a distant county seat serving upon a jury.  The amount heretofore paid was barely sufficient for their hotel and traveling expenses and left nothing with which to pay the hand ordinarily required to look after farm chores in the absence of the owner.
