W. J. Skidmore and Wife, at home after April 1st

Happy news from the “punkin editor” of the Skidmore Standard, by way of the April 5, 1901 edition, page 4:

An April Fool.

Our punkin editor gave us about the best April fool we have had for some time.  He left Skidmore on Saturday morning, March 16, and, as we supposed was on another one of his “unknown trips,” but imagine our surprise Monday mornign when we received an announcement that reads like this:

Mr. William J. Skidmore
Skidmore, Missouri
Miss Margaret Haines
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Wednesday, March the twentieth
One thousand nine hundred and one

At Home
after April first
Skidmore, Mo.

The Standard force joins their many friends in extending congratulations, and wish them a long and happy life.
