You can’t keep good people away from a good town

From the March 14, 1907 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 4:

Snow fell to a depth of nearly six inches last Saturday, but it had almost disappeared by Monday evening.  The roads, which were beginning to get passable, were put in as bad or worse condition than before.  Notwithstanding this fact, a number of farmers were on our streets while the mud was at its worst.  You can’t keep people away from a good town.
